How does it happen???

Really...how does it happen??? Today was Jacob's last day of elementary school. I know parents say this everyday, but it DOES seem like just yesterday that he started Kindergarten. Where does the time go?? I heard someone say once something like the days go by so slow, but the years go by so fast. It's true. I sometimes miss Jacob the baby. There is so much that I would go back and do different. He is an amazing boy and I am so proud of him, but there are days that I look at him in awe and can't believe he is 11 years old. Middle school scares me.....to be honest. I pray that it's a good experience for him and he really shines and has all the self confidence he deserves. Here's to you my love......I love you and I believe in you!

Jacob's first game of the season...

This is Jacob's third year playing baseball. Every year gets a little more competitive and kinda stresses me out. Unfortunately, tonight was the first time in three years that Jacob was hit by the ball...twice! The second time was when he was at bat. He instantly lost his confidence and became very nervous whenever he was at bat. As a mom, I just want to "make it all better". But, I need to let him grow-up and sometimes he will get hurt. So, I guess I can't go and kick the pitcher's butt!! Even though the team didn't win, I am proud of all of them. Here's to a great season!

Lucas had fun too....he always does :)

Savoring the weekend...

Cory and I have all FIVE kids every other weekend (ages 7 to 14). So, this weekend was OUR weekend. We have had such a quiet and relaxing weekend. The weather was amazing today. We went to a late breakfast at The Murrayhill Cafe and sat outside. Here are some pictures from our breakfast. Very yummy and so relaxing :)

We love our kids, but this was a great weekend......:)

Flip flops.....Love them!!

So it's that time of year again.....well, kinda. Flip flop weather. I just love my flip flops! Nike's are my favorite. In Oregon you have to start wearing your flip flops now or you'll get about two weeks if you wait for the sun. So, here's to a pretty pedicure and a new pair of here-comes-summer- flip flops!!

Lucas and Pop Cans...

Lucas has decided he would like a few extra bucks in his wallet. He has noticed that Jacob has been returning pop cans and getting money in return. Lucas wants a piece of that pie. So, almost everyday he collects the empty pop cans out of the recycling and puts them in a garbage bag. We have been to Albertson's three times this week to return cans. The first two times we went to cash in the receipt he came away with $2.00 each time. The look of disgust and disappointment on his face was priceless. He just could not understand that ALL those cans only produced two bucks! I tried to explain that they are only worth 5 cents each and you need a lot of cans to get the kind of money he would like. So, today was our third trip to return more cans. As we were getting ready to leave for the store, Lucas said to me "can we turn our slip into a different guy at the store...I think he'll give us more money". Oh, if only that were true.

P.S. I asked Lucas what he is saving his money for...his relpy "a massage". (He'll be seven next week)

Ok....I admit I cried during American Idol....

I knew there would come a day when Scott would get voted off of American Idol, but I just wasn't ready for him to go. I really admire his determination and how much he has accomplished. I guess it's the mom in me....especially raising two boys who have their own challenges. Even though I don't know Scott, I am so proud of all he has done....Ok, I sound like Paula now. :)
